Training & Therapy Style
I use an integrated approach of a variety of traditional Western therapy styles and strategies, as well as strategies from other world views, working with each client to form a clear treatment plan. This includes Nutritional Psychology, which aims to treat the underlying causes of mood disorders, not just the symptoms. At the client’s request, I also work collaboratively with medical professionals, spiritual leaders, or others whom the client may identify as important and helpful in their treatment plans.
While I use a variety of techniques, at my core, I am a Humanist (Feminist and Multicultural emphases fit under this umbrella). This means that I believe all humans have the power within them to create change in their lives, while acknowledging there are real external forces that impact our choices. I provide a nonjudgmental, confidential space to explore all aspects of one’s life and identify areas where change can occur.
What I won’t do: just sit there, nod, and ask you how you feel about that.
